    Maison Coilliot

    by barryg23 Written Jul 22, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Maison Coilliot looks a little different to the average house in Lille. That is because it was designed by famous Art-Nouveau designer Hector Guimard, best known for the elaborate metro station entrances in Paris. This type of design does look a bit overblown on a house but it’s a fascinating sight nonetheless. Maison Coilliot, a private residence, is on rue Fleurus, near the church of St. Michel.

    Trompe-l'oeil

We like to wander around the streets of cities we visit looking at things away from the tourist areas. Not too far off the beaten track we came across this example of Trompe-l'oeil in one of the little streets between the information office in Palais Rihour and Boulevard de la Liberté
