Big City Small Ground
Although Lille are often in the top half of the French "Le Championnat" and usually qualify either the Champions League or the UEFA Cup alas the city is not a fooballing mecca and the ground is relatively small by Premiership Standards. In 2001 they were forced to play their Champions league home games at rivals Lens - a much smaller town but probably the most passionate football town in France and a ground with a capacity of almost the total population itself!
OSC Lille soccer
When in Lille you can visit a game of OSC Lille in the Premier French division.
The stadium is in the old citadel parc a 20 min walk from the center. I visted matches against Bordeaux and Sedan (relegation game in 1999). The stadium is old and but has her charm. I like the typical french way of making noise (Buuuuuuuuut ddddeeee LLLLilllllle) and colourfull visualisation of commercial messages on the shrits and in the stadium.

ON THE COUNTRY SIDE SOME ROADS ARE WELL KEPT FOR GREAT CYCLING EVENTS LIKE "PARIS-
