Northwest of the old city and slightly north of the Citadel is the birthpace of the late President de Gaulle (whom the large international airport in Roissy is named after - many people know it as Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris). It's at 9, rue Princesse . Not all guidebooks mention this house. It has a few exhibits and an old car with bullet holes from a failed assassination attempt.
Now a museum, the house where De Gaulle was born is situated in rue Princesse number 9. He was born here in 1890 and was president of the French Republic from 1959-1968. He is famous for his call to resist Nazi occupation in 1940 and for founding the Fifth Republic. He died in 1970.
