Just off the Grance Place there is a Chinese looking building, that looks quite of of place in a city like Lille, but still was nice to see it there. It was part of a cultural exhibition in 2004 as it was the Year of China in France.
I am not sure if its still there today, but it was nice to see it there.

Place du Theatre, where the wonderful Chamber of Commerce stands, whose Belfry chimes traditional melodies.
This is in the old part of Lille. You will notice a Oriental style building infront of it, that looks quite of place, but still nice to see it there.

There are also some houses in Lillois style on the Place du Théâtre. They have little angels next to the windows. By the angels you can see which windows belong to the same owner. Angels turning their back to the window means an other owner. Angels with their backs against each other means the same owner.

Place du Theatre is located just off the Grand' Place, at the end of rue Faidherve.
It is home to some fabulous buildings and shops, including a very out of place asian tea room!
The impressive buildings here are the Opera House and the Chamber of Commerce, with its impressive 76m Belfry.
A great square for a photo - especially when the sky is blue!

The Opera house in this square, right across from the Belfroi and the Gare du Nord, was inaugurated by the architect Louis-Marie Cordonnier in 1923. The statues on the facade of the Opera house represent Apollo and his Muses.

When I was in Lille, there was a lovely Chinese Pagoda in place du Theatre. It was possible to have a cup of Chinese tea there.
