Meert Patisserie and Tea Room, Lille

3 Reviews  The place looks nice, but it's so incredibly expensive and in my opinion it's not worth the money. There's nothing wrong with the patisserie - on the contrary. But four euro's for a regular cup of...

Histoire Ancienne: Best lunch on a day trip to Calais

by DaveDeakin

One of the best meals we have had while on a day trip to France. We day trip to France 3/4 times a year, to stock up on wine & beer and we always have lunch in a typical French restaurant & this was one of the best. Very helpful, good choice on the menu, in a very French & relaxed atmosphere. A 3-course meal for 4 with wine & drinks came to 104 euros (about £70.00). Will defiantly be going back next trip. All 4 of us all tried something different from the menu and I can honestly say not one of us was disappointed and totally satisfied with the quantity and quality of our meal.

Don't miss the fresh seafood

by Helga67

Typical for this region is the fresh seafood, especially crab and mussels. There are many fish restaurants. If you like fish/seafood, go for it. Filled crab

A buffet style dinner was set out at hotel Meurice. That was very enjoyable, laced with plenty of wine, dance and laughter.

The French are good at catering, in my experience. About 130 packed lunches and it still looked elegant and tasted good too!
