Moustiers Ste Marie and Gorges du Verdon

by kiwi

If you can get to the South of France, one corner I thoroughly recommend is the Gorges du Verdon. A steep sided canyon, this place is both beautiful and also an area of adventure. Kayaking, climbing, cycling, and many other things to occupy the active types. And if it's shopping you enjoy, then the lovely historic village at the south end of the Gorge, is the place to spend some time. This is Moustiers Sainte Marie and you can read more about what there is here on offer, in my page here.

Hiking in the Pyrenees

by Maximilian21

One of my favorite things when i was in the pyrenees region was to wake up early and go hiking. The Pyrenees are not as high as the alps and provide much more lush green landscape particularly around the summer time. The whole area is wonderfully picturesque and gives you the opportunity to breath the fresh air and feel good to be in nature. the following website offers a list of different hikes to be undertaken.

Le Mont Blanc

by Maximilian21

Mont Blanc or Monte Bianco also known as La dame Blanche (the white Lady)), in the Alps, is the highest mountain in western Europe at a height of about 4,810 metres (15,780 feet). Its an incredible site to see and is a French Icon. If you like moutaineering and hiking like myself , Mt Blanc is a mecca. Its also good just to take the cable car up th the Aiguille du Midi which gives outstanding views of the mountain.

the Aiguille du midi

by Maximilian21

Aiguille du Midi is a 3842m rocky outcrop in the Mont Blanc mountain range in the French Alps. The world's highest cable car, Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, was built to the summit in 1955. The Aiguille summit now contains a really nice viewing platform which gives panoramic views of the Alps and Mont Blanc. The popular Vallée Blanche ski run begins here and to see some of these exteme skiiers is an experience, and the nearby Cosmos Refuge is the starting point for one of the routes to the Mont Blanc summit. The cable car begins in the town of Chamonix. The cable car is really something because it goes for a long time and offers the most amazing views of Chamonix. It is a little expensive however. for the prices check out the website.
