There's not much to fool you about this tacky little attraction. It's just a pretend little choo-choo that putts around the streets of Angers, unsubtly screaming out to every one of the locals in the outdoor cafés: "hey everyone! look at me! I'm a shameless tourist!" The horribly tacky PA speakers blurt out a French-only recorded commentary, so if you don't understand French then take earplugs or a good sense of humour!
This may be a good option if it's raining, or for people travelling with small children, or anyone for whom walking is a problem, ie: you're disabled, rushed, or just want to have a lazy day out. The train tour will at least show you the main parts of Angers in a one hour whistle-stop tour (despite the public shame!).
The alternative is to simply take your time and grab one of the excellent free maps from the tourist information office (near the chateau). You can take this map, and the info provided by the helpful staff, to go on your own (more fun) walking tour. Otherwise Angers also has an excellent bus system ('COTRA') with an easy-to-follow route plan for getting around. It's 1 euro for a one hour transfer, or you can buy daily, weekly, monthly passes.
