We didn’t have time for shopping but the city centre was full of clothing stores and some other small ones for small gifts ect We didn’t notice any touristic store if you like magnets etc which was no surprise as Nantes isn’t a touristic city.
For those of you who have big wallets you can try the expensive stores at Rue Crebillon (semi pedestrian street between la place Royale and la place Graslin)
While we were checking the cafes and pubs we also noticed the famous department store Galeries Lafayette (pic 1) that opened in Paris at the end of 19th century but now has more that 60 stores (mainly in France but also all around the world). The prices are on the expensive side.
But if you really like to see expensive malls check La Passage Pommeraye (pic 2), I loved the man playing violin at the entrance but of course the prices of the stores were good only to laugh out loud :) If you have some time go there though (it’s in the city center near place Royale) because the 19th century building is interesting (in art nouveau style)
When in France I usually check FNAC, a department store that focus on music and books, in Nantes it’s housed on an interesting building too (pic 3)

Best is probably to ask in wine shops, such as Nicolas or le Cellier des Vignes.
What to buy: Muscadet is Nantes' regional wine. White wine, sharp taste, not sweet, which is perfect to enjoy with oysters and basically with any seafood. Really recommended to try seafood with muscadet when you go in the region as you will find very high quality products. Furthermore, Muscadet is a cheap wine. You find good bottles around 4-5€. Another local wine is called Gros Plan but I dont recommend it as it is quite undrinkable.
What to pay: 4-5€ for good wines. May reach a 7-8€ for the best.

Rue Crébillon is a street that links two of the main places in Nantes: Place Graslin and Place Royale. Even if there are several places to actually do shopping, rue Crebillon remains the main street to shop. Many women's and men's clothes shops, such as Levi's, Hugo Boss, Lacoste or Newman. Actually, I never do shopping there but for those fond of fashion, you cannot miss rue Crébillon. There is even a word used by older Nantais to say shopping, which is crebillonner (litteraly means to Crebillon).
Dont expect though to find the Fifth Avenue, the street is quite small.
What to buy: Women's and men's clothes, shoes, bags. Jewel shops too.
What to pay: Expensive, since it is fashion and luxury.

If interested in buying beautiful books about Nantes' and its region, then Coiffard is one of the best place to go. Illustrated books or historical books that will give you a very rich insight about the region.
What to buy: Beautiful books (illustrated, great photos...)
What to pay: Dont have a very accurate notion of the price of these books. The bigger and the more illustrated ones may go up to 45 euros, I reckon. Some small books may be around 10 euros.

The shop is a "chocolatier", near Place Royale. Its a great place to go, like any "chocolatier". They make their own amazing chocolate and candies.
What to buy: Nantes's candy speciality is called "berlingot". It is hard to describe. Just have to try it. I have not bought them for a long time - even though it really has a good taste - so i dont remember the price.

There are many different shops in this area. My friend bought some paintings here. If I recall correctly there are also stores selling jewelry & many other things. It's a great place for browsing.
