Picnic in the woods: Somehow food always tastes better outdoors.
The sun is shining and everyone wants to head outdoors. Alfresco eating becomes an obsession and what better way to indulge than with a picnic. We just love to have a picnic so every now and then, because somehow, food always tastes better outdoors. Whether you're heading to the beach, mountains, meadow or just the back yard, pack up your self-made foods for a fabulous "take-out" meal.
For this particular picnic we first had a nice day at the beach. Because of the hard wind at the end of the day we all thought is became a bit chilly and therefore we decided to have the picnic just a little kilometer away from the coastline in the pine cone woods. We just had had great time. By the time we were ready with our meals the kids were able to play in the woods and Paulien and I could relax a bit. Quality time for sure!
Favorite Dish: We had some:
* Pina Colada Fruit Salad;
* Cheese Straws;
* Pecan Toffee Tassies.

Camping La Prairie: No restaurant can top this!
Making your own food at the campsite is simply a great way to spend time with friends and family, to entertain and to simply enjoy your background. Having a so called “meal at home” is becoming increasingly popular and the eating out is decreasing, probably a budget thing. But anyway, it brings your cooking outside – so you don’t have to miss out on the fun while still preparing a tasty and memorable meal.
I guess that making your own meal has numerous regional variations in many parts of the world. We like to stay outside, have a cold beer or good wine and communicate with each other while one is putting the meat on the gas cooker and enjoy each other’s company. This time being together is quite priceless and therefore we had a few meals of our own during our stay in Saint-Hilaire-de -Riez. The surrounding was beautiful at the grass-patio in front of our tent, the sun going down and the lake Atlantiq Ocean in the background. No restaurant in the vicinity could top that! At the local shops we bought some fine pasta, meat and fish and (of course) the necessary beer and wine.
