Auberge St. Pierre: Enjoy the local cuisine
I havd forgotten the name of this restaurant but luckily the name was on one of my photos.
It was in an old part of Saumur, the 4th photo in this tip shows the restaurant building. Situated on a little square with more restaurants.
You can see that we enjoyed ourselves tremendously with oysters and a lovely meat and fish dish. There are plenty of restaurants in Saumur and they are well frequented by tourists and locals alike. Also plenty of opportunity to eat outside.
Note that the website mentioned below is under construction, so there's nothing there yet. But you can find a map under the link that I put under directions.
Favorite Dish: Well, oysters always go down well with me. And seeing from the photos I enjoyed a fish dish with Sauce Hollandaise (which is a French sauce, mind you). It was a busy, warm and summery night, had a real French feel to it. Highly enjoyable!
Oh and, do make reservations. It was quite busy.

Le Grand Bleu: Great seafood
Small and lively restaurant just stonethrow from the city center. Very popular amongst the locals and tourists. The blue tables and chairs (of plastic) in terrace are crowded with the seafood enthuastics.
Favorite Dish: Mussels and huge paella were extremely delicious. Equally esgargots are worth tasting.
Wines are not too expensive.
