Hiking in rural Avon Les Roches
We went for a hiking tour in this small town near our guest house. You can choose between 10, 13 and 16 km. We did the 13 on one day and the 16 on another.Good fun, not too hard or muddy (even in December !).We went past the ruins of an old abbey. That was pretty amazing ! (see photo). It is in an area called Roches Tranchelion, built in 1524, because below the abbey there are old houses built in the caves.Very unique! You will also pass by old washing places. These are little roofs on top of a stream. And of course the forests are amazing. If you are lucky, you will spot deer and wild boar ... Hiking Boots, a bit of water and an energy bar.A map is not necessary, the trails are well indicated on the ground and on trees/signs with yellow arrows.
