There is this small vineyard sits on the south western side of the sloping banks outside the chateau walls. If you enlarge the photo you can see the rose bushes at the end of the rows of vines. Roses are traditionally used to check how healthy the vines are, as roses are very susceptible
to disease. I am not sure if these grape are used for wine, eating or just decoration!
The ancient Kitchen Gardens are at the bottom of the chateau walls. We visited in September so there was not an awful lot growing, I have seen photos of the garden in impressive full growth. The gardens cover an area of 1.3 ha, are worth a visit in season.
Entrance to the Kitchen Gardens is free, open May to October.
