le Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme. Lovely old steam train that takes in the best bits of the Somme Bay. Train runs from Le Crotoy to St Valery and then on to Cayeux on the coast. Fares for 2008 are 14.50 Euros return Le Crotoy to Cayeux (adults) and 10.80 Euros for children 4-18 yrs old.

Hotel La Terasse 3*: Good view of the sea if you have the right rooms, Fort-Mahon-Plage

mikezawadzki Says:  Pleasant not over fussy hotel with adequate facilities. Try and get rooms with a view of the sea. The sea is amazing with constantly changing colours and a quickly moving tide.

Jinty37 Says:  The facilities here are very good. It is geared towards the french, with very little english spoken ,especially true for the organised activities. There's a swimming pool complex with wave pool and chutes, a challenging golf course, pedal boats, bicycle hire, on site shops...

'Mussel Poles'

If you're keen on walking along the beach, an interesting thing to do is to go and see the mussel farms on the beach between Fort Mahon Plage and Quand Plage.

You might see the farmers on the beach with their tractors harvesting the mussels.

There are hundreds of these 'mussel poles' along the beach.
