We have stayed in Fontaine-Chaalis at an Auberge (See Tips) twice as a base for exploring the area and as a covenient last night before flying out of de Gaulle Airport (an easy 15-20 minute traffic-free car return away). The ruined Abbey and the Jacquemart-Andre Museum are a good low-key last visit (or first). This is a way to see parts of France you might otherwise miss. See our Tips on Fontaine-Chaalis pages about these experiences.

Gerberoy
by DanielF
This tiny hamlet has the privilege of having being admitted to the exclusive club of the most beautiful villages in France. Most of the houses date back to the XVII and XVIII centuries and make of Gerberoy a really pleasant destination for a romantic get-away.
