 Nightwalking thru the city is

The city is so elegant, safe and charming that you wouldn't mind walking in it, playing with your own shadow. Plus, I saw some pubs and clubs as well...
A warning though: pay attention not to fall into the water at Vieux port... It happens so many times that people, drivers fall in the water in this area.
La Rochelle is a posh city... It uses to welcome tourists however. Tourists I saw there were like locals... Not the lobster tanned guys with only their shorts as pieces of cloth. There are numerous street entertainers all around. Some are singers, ceremonial drummers, story tellers, brass bands, small bands, acrobats, in line roller skaters, you name it, they have it. The best nightlife of all is just wandering around seeing what everyone else is doing.
