    How to get in and out, Cognac

    Nice country town and famous for one of the world's greatest liquor , Cognac.

    I come here by car and train once, but many other ways to enjoy this town. The parking is plenty with over 1500 places and 900 for free. All parkings are free in town Saturdays,Sundays,and Holidays from 12h-t 14h and from 17h during the week. The parking cour du Musée d’art et d’histoire
    is paying from 9h-12h and 14h-17h. It opens at 7h so its free until 9h. The parkings Jules Ferry ,and Prieuré are with pay from 9h- 12h ,and 14h-17h
    You can come from Paris on the A10 toll road or take a detour at Poitiers on the N10 free to Cognac from Angouleme or Saintes on the E603 road.

    There are about 7 trains each there by here doing the run Saintes-Angoulême with changes correspondance at Angoulême and Saintes; and one direct train each day to La Rochelle-Ville, and two trains to Royan. All trains make a stop at Cognac. There is taxi service at the station.

    The bus for one euro with carnet of 10 for 8€ is available, on the available lines

    Line B Place Saint-Jacques/La Trâche (Javrezac, Hauts de Saint-Jacques, centreville, hôpital, gare, Anisserie, la Trâche)
    Line C Piscine/Clinique (quartier Châtenay, centre-ville, gare, Châteaubernard, Anisserie, clinique)
    Line D Gare SNCF/Maison du temps libre (quartier Chaudronne, Vauzelles, Félix Gaillard, gare)
    The transport site is transcom, with the above lines from Cognac to La Chaudronne, Saint-Jacques,Châteaubernard, and Javrezac on the system salamandre.For handicap persons there is the mille pattes system same prices with adapted bus service on demand.

    How to and from Poitiers

    Poitiers is an university town so public transport is not bad. The townn is 340 km southwest of Paris. The roads passing by here are the autoroute A10,connects with the D910 that overpass the city by the west, the N11 towards Niort and la Rochelle and the N147 road Angers to Limoges from which the road N151 connect to Poitiers-Auxerre.

    You have parking here as Effia at 2 bd Pont Achard, Cordeliers by 4bis Rue Henri Oudin, Hôtel de Ville by 22 rue Carnot (mine),Blossac by bd Sous-Blossac and bd de Tison, marché notre dame by place Charles de Gaulle (good one too), théatre auditorium by 1 bd de Verdun, and Toumai by 52, bd du Grand Cerf. tariffs are here in pdf file

    The town is link by TGV train the TGV Atlantique. The TER Poitou-Charentes links Poitiers with Châteauroux, Angoulême, Limoges, Nantes (via Parthenay and Bressuire), La Rochelle (via Niort) and other towns of the agglo region of Poitou-Charentes or the Grand Ouest.

    The bus terminal is next to the train station and they are near the Théâtre Auditorium de Poitiers as well as 10 minutes on foot from the Hôtel de Ville (city hall). it has 15 platforms and 12 are adapted for mobility impaired persons.
