    Landings monument for the Americans

Not so many history-books recall the liberation of Southern France, where the "pact of Lyon" was having a Nazi-influenced position in this part of France. The Americans landed near Agay and started from here the liberation of the Cote d'Azur. A monument recalls this heroic act and there is also an old landing craft te see near the beaches of Agay.

You can walk in the mountainous region known as the Esterel. There are many paths and places to stay around Agay and Le Dramont.

In my opinion the coast between Cannes and St. Raphael is the nicest bit of landscape all along the Cote d'Azur. This part of the coast and the Forest of Esterel are a protected Nature Reserve which is the reason for the fact that the area remained so pleasnat and rather unspoilt.
