The nearest airport is "Marseille-Provence", at Marignanes, which is about fifty minutes by shuttle bus from Aix. Shuttles leave every thirty minutes. If you want to fly via Nice beware - there are only two buses a day there and back. But the bus DOES go straight to Nice airport in two hours, no changing, so it is an advantage. Via Nimes, though (where Ryanair fly), is tricky. You have to get to Nimes itself from the airport, then get a train to Marseille, then a bus to Aix. It takes a long old time, too. Trust me, it aint worth it. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

I never really dare taking the bus abroad because we never know where to take it and where to stop. Aix en Provence buses are relatively easy to use for one reason: they all have a stop in common, they meet at La Rotonde which is the very centre of Aix. Therefore you can take a bus and if need be stay on it and always come back next to the tourist office. You can't get lost in the middle of nowhere... Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Train Station, Aix-en-Provence by ForestqueenNYC The train station in Aix is where you can go to buy your tickets for the TGV to Paris and elsewhere. You do not, however, board the TGV at this station. You must take a shuttle, taxi, or car to the very modern and new station which is a few miles outside of town. Generally speaking, one who knows Aix does not take the train from there to Marseille or Nice because the bus is so much more convenient, cheaper. To Nice the bus takes about the same time as the TGV since you would have to go to Marseille to take it. Location: at the end of Avenue Victor Hugo turn right and you are looking at it. If you arrive in Marseille and wish to get to Aix, here's a tip - don't bother going by train. I don't know of anybody who uses the train in Aix, because if you just pass over to the Gare Routiere - bus station, sorry - you will find that there are buses between Aix and Marseille every ten minutes, on average, taking just under half an hour (compared to forty-five minutes by train, with much less frequency). It costs 4.10 Euros, but if you are in Aix and travelling regularly to Marseille, get a carnet of six for just 13 Euros - but tell them you are a student, they wont ask for ID. Even older folk get away with it. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

A good way to get around Aix en Provence is to take the local bus. It's cheap and efficient, at least during day time. Most buses stop going at 10pm, so make sure that you've planned your trip back! On sundays, there's almost no bus service at all, keep that in mind. A tip is also to buy a carnet of 10 tickets in advance, it can be bought in most "tabac"-stores or at the tourist office, costs about 7 euro. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

If driving just follow the signs that point to the city centre. You will get to a wide street that circles the center of the city. While driving on this street there are around 4 parking garages and they tell you if they are full and if not then they tell you how many parking spaces are available. All are at fine locations for walking to the attractions. Like usual walking is the best way to get around the large Provencal city. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home
