Cafe de Chineurs (nothing to
do with "chinese"!)

What we have been looking for for a long time here in Antibes. French quality, cooking with fresh ingredients bursting with taste and flavour - at reasonable prices. Patronised mainly by French visitors and locals. The tourists are thankfully drawn to the obvious spots around the corner.

Omlette complet believe it or not was sensational. Seared salmon with freshly made real tartar sauce, fabulous. Tarte tatin to die for. Wine reasonable in pichets. Great atmosphere good unhurried service.

Another of the many outside cafes that I love so much...I was waited on by a transplanted Aussie, so it made communicating easier..

I had fish soup, monkfish with a pesto sauce, a cheese plate along with a nice house red wine and an espresso..

A nice restaurant in the heart of the old town. The service is good and the food as well. The provencal menu is good value.

Located on small place away from the most touristic areas, it serves mainly local food at a very reasonable price. The service is very friendly. Beware they don't accept visa card.

The Don Juan is in one of Antibes's little roads. You'll see it, it's quite big and there are lots of little restaurants close to it. I went there for lunch twice. Outside there is a set menu, normally 3 courses for 16 euro. Sometimes you can choose something else, sometimes not. Inside, it's really cool: there are pictures of yachts and lighthouses, model boats and lifebuoys etc. The "main" waiter is mad: he's really abrupt but nice as well and it's funny being bossed around by him, a real laugh! The food is nice, especially the tuna steak with ratatouille (gorgeous) and the moussaka, but the best thing is their Chocolate Sundae!

This restaurant is situated on Rue James Close, a little side street just off one of the main squares in Antibes old town. A few steps up to the front door and you're in what was once someone's living room. You can either choose to eat at one of the tables here or venture into the basement for a more private dining experience.

This restaurant specialises in seafood and there have been a few occasions when the steak has been fairly poor in quality. Pick a fish dish though and you're in for a real treat. The fresh ingredients and the attention to detail make you savour every mouthful. Fish soup is exquisite and the desserts......! This should be on the 'to do' list of every visitor to Antibes.

Outside 'Le Brulot Pasta'

Quality Italian & Provencal food. Set downstairs in a basement (slightly 'cave-like') in a (grubbyish) side-street. Delicious thin, huge pizzas. The pasta is also to be recommended. They also have a 'Provencal' style restaurant in the same street a few doors along. Always best to book ahead, gets very busy after 8:30pm. Highly recommended. Score: Food quality 7/10, food choice 7/10, food presentation 7/10, atmosphere/surroundings 7/10, friendly staff 7/10, service 7/10, family friendly 8/10, toilets 6/10, car parking 4/10, value for money 8/10, total 68/100. Would I go back again - yes.
