Favorite thing: I traveled to Avignon on an overnight train from Switzerlad. I was tired and pretty grubby when I arrived so took some time to browse around and settle in. I found avignon a wonderful base to visit some other towns in Provance. From there I easily visited Aix en Provence, Nantes, and Arles, all worth a day trip!
