A good link to all the festivals in Avignon, all year round.
I experienced one, the music festival in August. We simply walked round and looked and listened here and there. There were also music bands all over town all day long and well into the night.
During the summer Avignon has a lot of drama productions. These troupes round up customers by having a parade through the streets of Avignon. All of a sudden you will hear music, drumming and then people in costumes parade down the street handing out flyers and telling people about their performance that evening.
Included here are several shots of the costumes seen.
The festival of Dance, Music and Theatre is now an international yearly event. It was founded in 1947 by the actor and director Jean Vilar. Events take place all over town. There's no way you'll miss it. Lots of actors interacting with the people on the streets and everywhere else.
During summer time in France, you've got plenty of possibilities to have fun and to enjoy your passion. For example, if you are fond of comedy or drama theater, you can go to the Festival d'Avignon, one of the first created, probably the most famous, and sure the most interesting. It takes place in July during more or less three weeks. It's three weeks of French and European theater: comedy, drama, dance, music, etc. There is the official program, but you can discover the unofficial program with shows which can be very strange or very interesting. The festival d'Avignon is made for the curious people.
Remember to join this festival on 7 July 2004 every year. The ancient becomes more joyful & artistic.
