There are two tram lines that run circuits in Avignon. They are about 45 minutes and are not a bad way to get an overview of the city. The cost is 6 or 7 euros. They run April-October from 10:00 to 19:00. My experience is that they are not always on the proper schedule, but we did take one tour and found it enjoyable.

There is a tourist train that goes around Avignon. There are two actually one goes to the park by the Popes Palace, it is an uphill climb that may be difficult for persons with reduced mobility.
    That ride costs 1 euro.

The other train goes around Avignon by the tourist sights and has commentary. That one costs 7 euro.

Both take off from the plaza in front of the Palace of the Popes

Avignon is small, it probably takes no more than 15 minutes to walk from the gate at one end of the city to the corresponding gate at the other end. Is it necessary? You decide
