    One should not confuse “CHEZ ASTOUX” with its competitor “Astoux et BRUN” located at some steps on the same side of the Felix Faure street with sight on the flower market opposite the Old Port of Cannes.
    “Chez Astoux” is also a specialist in seafood but provides the comfort of a traditional restaurant with a number of tables for two, something my wife and I appreciate.
    We tasted "Chez Astoux" the range of the seafood platters as well as the midday menus (24 €). Our satisfaction on quality, freshness (daily arrival), service, comfort of this restaurant was great. Prices were correct for a place such as Cannes.

    Most served is the seafood. The great output is obviously a guarantee of freshness for delicate products like the various molluscs.
    What is fine at Astoux is that the contents of the plates are detailed with precision. The guest knows precisely what he is going to pay for.
    The first seafood platter for 1 person is “the fisherman platter” at 24 € with about fifteen varied molluscs of which excellent large hollow-shell oysters, plus prawns (very firm and fresh) and grey shrimps.
    A platter for 2 persons which has much success is “the seafood mosaic” at 80 € (VAT and service included) with about sixty molluscs, a dozen large prawns and 1 crab.
    The apotheosis is however the plate called “the marine mammoth” at 120 € for 2. The principal piece is a crayfish-rock lobster (our "langouste" weighed about 600 gr.), 1 crab and an abundance of molluscs, prawns and shrimps. It's useless to take an entry or a dessert with such an abundant seafood platter.
    At "Chez Astoux" the guests can ask to replace part of the platter by other elements. Thus we had part of the 20 oysters replaced by a second crab.
    This restaurant serves very good Provence wines at around 20 € (75 cl bottle).
    We also much appreciated the great kindness of the personnel.

    Sure that we will come back Chez Astoux.

    Chez Astoux: Taken over by Brun.

    Chez Astoux (rue Felix Faure 41-43) was taken over by Astoux et Brun the very popular sea food restaurant in the same street at nr 27 (ref. my tip).

    We prefer chez Astoux, where we used to go in the past, because the comfort is that of a restaurant not that of a noisy factory canteen like Cocquillages BRUN.

    The food and the prices are the same - they get the seafood platters from Brun - but here you can eat in a comfortable surrounding and at your ease because people are not queing outside. Furthermore the waiters are not under stress like at Brun.

    A sea platter for two plus Provence white wine (too expensive at 21 €) will cost you about 100 €.
    To summerize it in one French sentence: "la bouffe de chez Brun, le comfort de chez Astoux!"
