La Pizza Cresci, Cannes

Serving pizza and other Italian dishes in Cannes for decades, La Pizza (Cresci) is an institution. It is a direct competitor of Vesuvio's at the other end of la Croisette. La Pizza is located at the corner of le Vieux Port, at the foothill of the Suquet hill.

Don't mistake this for any fast food pizza joint. Mr Cresci has been honoured for his services to national food quality in Paris along with the mayor of Nice.

His Pizza formula is absolutely the best on the planet, and he features it in three restaurants in the Zone Pietone in Nice - always full - and this is his Cannes branch. This man is to Pizza what Picasso is to painting. Don't miss it.

very busy and popular pizza restaurant so we thought we'd give it a go after reading good reviews. both of our pizzas had burnt bases leaving a horrid bitter taste in our mouths, and there seemed to be some kind of fixation on copious amounts of cheese. really really dissapointing. This however is not what ruined the experience, a couple of french celebrities were dining there, our waiter happily left us waiting whilst gushing over them, and even when another waiter pointed this out to him it was dismissed and in the end we had to get up and go and pay the bill at the counter ourselves- obvioulsy without a tip!

Favorite Dish: not pizza......or chips as they cost 7 euros for a small portion

Huge - two-story. Insanely schmoozy during the festival, probably quieter otherwise. Service was a bit slow.

Favorite Dish: Had the four-cheese pizza. I'm from Chicago, so this was not the best I've ever had, but it had gorgonzola cheese in it, and American four-cheese pizza rarely has blue cheese in the mix. Salty in that good way. Also had the vanilla ice cream with chestnut sauce, which seems to be big in Cannes (see La Mere Beisson tip).

Prices were good. Pizzas were quite big & tasty. Try the one with sea food or 4 cheese.
The waiters were so kind.
