Though now-a-days one is not allowd on top of the viaduct de Caramel, the place indicates a viewing point of some importance. Here it is that the driver first can see the mediterranean sea in the distance, after driving from the Alpes Maritimes out of the Sospel direction. Still around 12 kilometers to go before reaching the beaches, the mountains open up to give us a peak towards the blue water.

During daylight this significant round bridge structure on the flanks of the Castillon mountain attracts the attention. From a far distance one already can focus to this point while winding up into the Alpes Maritimes. At night it becomes an even brighter beaken for drivers, as the allumination is very clear and guides you through the night towards it like a moth. For me it was a great help on our daily trips up and down.
