In July and August the 5km of white sandy beach of Cavalaire is very crowded. If you need to come by car or motor than the best way to enter the beach is at "Pardigon". Beach bars/restaurants are spread out over the 5km beach. At Pardigon you can go left or right on the beach. Go left for a more lifely part of the beach with several watersports to rent and more stylish beach bars and go right for a more quite and typical provence pinetrees beach.
Dinner tip: Go to the harbor ( port ) and walk past the casino ( not much of a casino by the way ) towards the multiple restaurants and bars along the harbor side with a view on the millionairs boat row.
To eat at the restaurant where many locals eat go to Pizzaiola for quality food, many local dishes, a very nice terras and acceptable prices.
