Take the TGV from Paris and watch the landscape and light turn into Mediterranean. It's beautiful.
The metro is great, so are the buses once you figure out of it. Only negative thing is that normal lines close at 2100 and night buses at 0030. They did keep the metro open until 0030 while I was there, but I don't know if this is the case year round.

From Marseille you can take the Cote D'Azur train along the coast. In 2-3 hours you can be in Nice, Monaco or Cannes. The best views are east of Nice.

Buy a bus ticket and you can use it (or mix it) like a metro ticket but it lasts only 70 minutes after the 1st stamp.

Tak do Marseille odporucam ist lietadielkom, ale vlacik na obrazku moze upachteny cestovatel zneuzit pri vyvoze na vrsok nad mestom, odkial bude mat cele Marseille ako na dlani.
