Moustiers-Sainte-Marie Favorites

Favorite thing: If you don't have time to drive the whole length of the gorge, just drive part way. The road is windy and small, but there are places to turn from time to time. It's worth the effort to drive some distance then come back.

Favorite thing: Here, in this photo, you can see a few things that amazed me. Firstly here, as in many parts of France, the very old doors are still standing. If only they could speak and tell of all they had seen over the centuries!
The water fountain is very old as well, as are the stairs up the side. The plant contrasts as the living, the colourful and the new. I was in awe at the beauty of the texture.

Fondest memory: Look in every corner and you will see something different. I loved 'exploring', and just photographing things around the streets.

Favorite thing: High above the village and church, suspended by chain across the cutting in the rocks, is a lovely glistening gold star. Research tells me it was a medieval lord called Blacas who hung it there to celebrate being released from captivity during the crusades.

Fondest memory: On a fine weather day, to see the star glistening in the sun and knowing it has hung there for so many years, is a special moment.
