What to buy:
Making of Moistiers faïence (earthenware) is strictly controlled. Artists must qualify and register to recreate any of the specific designs. And they must keep to the designs as well. It is intricate handpainting, and the designs are very old.
What to pay: This product is special so doesn't come cheap. $US50 and around 50Euros will buy you an item, but many are a lot more expensive.
A lot of the shops at Moistiers are literally caves in the rock and are worth seeing. Unique and quaint, take your mind back centuries and imagine their life then. I suspect not a lot has changed. Electricity may have replaced candles, but the general form of these caves will be the same.
What to buy: Faïence of course. The local handpainted earthenware.
