One side of the COURS SALEYA is lined by seafood restaurants, the other one - by terrace cafés, lovely old buildings and the grand Prefecture. You have to come here in the evening to see how it changes.

    Cours Saleya Market in Nice

Don't miss the market at Cours Saleya if you are in Nice. The most famous is the flower market, but there is a fish market, vegetable market, spice market . . . anything you could want. Check the Nice town web site for market times and locations but the most fun is Cours Saleya.

It looks like all the French markets you've read about with striped awnings, outdoor cafes, brightly colored and beautifully arranged fruits and vegetables, exotic spices, olive tastings and flower that take your breath away. Great place to buy flowers for your hotel room, a picnic to eat a block away on the shore or just sit in a café and watch the world go by.

Here are current opening times for the Flower Market but please check as things do change. The town web site listed below lists all the markets in Nice and gives hours.

    Flower Market opening times:
    6:00-17:30 (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
    6:30-18:30 (Wednesday and Saturday)
    6:30-13:30 (Sunday)

    Weekly closing:
    Monday, Sunday midday

    Temporarily closed:
    Afternoons of holidays

    glazed fruit stall

On Cours Saleya from Tuesday to Sunday, there is a flower market and a food market.

There are a number of stalls selling the local speciality - fruits glaces (glazed or candied fruits).
