Le Tamaris: Fine restaurant among many others
Les saintes has many, many restaurants!!!
We picked this one because it was on a little plazza and sitting outside was quieter than in others lining very narrow street. It was a hot evening and we needed the very slight breeze!
One warning: make sure you have long sleeves and light long trousers and that you have sprayed yourself everywhere with mosquito repellent before even thinking of eating outside in les Saintes!!! Mosquitos are fierce and hungry!
Service was very nice, our waitress was smiling and had a nice banter. The food was good without being superb, that's not bad in such a touristy town!
Favorite Dish: I had the mixed grilled fish plate and it was very good. All fish tasted very fresh and were cooked perfectly.
Reasonable prices, again, beraing in mind that teh town is riddled with tourist restaurants.
I tried a specialty of the area, Gardiane de Taureau (bull meat - 9,20 euros), quite a special taste and very good. The Plate of the sea was also tasty (10 euros), and the dessert, melon marinated in Muscat de Rivesalte was really delicious. A total of 37 euros for two, including the aperitifs, in an atmosphere tinted with the warm colours of the South. Refined yet simple decoration, using the products of the South such as spices, dried fruits, seeds or corn, cloths, etc… I really had a nice evening…
