RC Model Club in the Lubéron region

by ATLC Written Mar 17, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In the travel forum someone asked about this kind of sport.
    The discussion is here.

He is staying in Cavaillon in the Lubéron region. So:
RC Model club Epervier is active in the towns Pertuis (82 kms from Cavaillon) and Villelaure (40 kms from Cavaillon).

If you then go to http://epervier.sudluberon.free.fr/plans/index.html, you will find layouts of the so-called pistes (where you fly the RC models) and also maps where you can find those pistes (click gymnase).
I think Villelaure is your best choice.

This is a club, so I don't know if guests are welcome.
Email them and hopefully they understand English!

Lots of people (men mostly!) like RC Model flying (Radio controlled model airplanes).
I did a bit of research for a VT member who is staying at Cavaillon in the Lubéron region.

The Epervier RC model club is active in the towns Pertuis (82 kms from Cavaillon) and Villelaure (40 kms from Cavaillon).

    Gorges du Verdon

This beautiful area is called the Grand Canyon of France and it's at the far southeastern end of Provence, just beckoning foodies who need a break!!

We just drove through it, watched the pros and then hiked an easy trail -- not being extreme rock climbers! Still, one can particpate or watch and still have a great time here. Indeed, there is something here for every level, from day hikes, to multiday treks, to canyoneering, to paragliding, to floating slow and easy rivers.

All that said, keep in mind that climbing experts claim this is one of the best locations in the world for the sport. Go for it!

Equipment: There are so many things to do in this region ... take your pick!

    Kayaking the Gardon

by kucha Written Jul 5, 2006

The Pont du Gard is a sight which should not be missed, when traveling in Provence (see Pont dud Gard Tip), but an even more spectacular way to enjoy and already spectacular sight is to kayak beneath the arches along the river Gardon. Floating beneath the span allows a real appreciation of the structure's architectural achievement!

Although several companies and private tour groups can arrange this activity, Kayak Vert is a professional and friendly company with which to work.

Equipment: Tehy will provide everything you need, including floatation devices.

    Skiing under the sun

by laetitiad Updated Jun 16, 2003

If you're in the area between december and march, don't miss the ski resorts. They're just one hour from Nice (and there are day trips organised on week ends, just ask at the tourists offices).
Auron is a very nice resort, not too big, not too small. You can visit it's website for more information. http://www.auron.com

Equipment: You can hire everything you need at the resorts. Just bring warm clothes as, even if it's in the south of France, you're in the mountains !!!

    Bike the Luberon!

    by rickyvilla81 Updated Nov 3, 2002

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There is a great cycling trail across the Luberon region, from Cavaillon to Forcalquier, with Apt being in the middle. It is well signposted and full of both easy and difficult stretches (the hardest being up Vacheres - 707m above sea level).
Contact Velo Loisir en Luberon at the email address below for details.

Equipment: A bike would be handy. Lots of water, and a sunhat, and suncream. Dont forget your toothbrush.
