Who knew ceramics could be so fascinating?!!! The Chateau (Castle) Museum in Vallauris offers a very engaging overview of the town's most famous product. Indeed, since WWII, it has been the host for a biennial ceramic art competition. The museum's collection includes interesting examples of ceramics throughout the ages and the world, 2 rooms of the ceramic work Picasso did while he lived here, plus (perhaps the most interesting) examples of prize winning works from the competitions.

This very large work is painted on the interior barrel vault of the Chateau (Castle) chapel, directly across the courtyard from the Castle Museum. It is a little overwhelming, almost too big for the space, but is another strong statement by Picasso, who spent time living i this town after WWII.
