Le Perigord, near La Roque Gageac and Sarlat: Fabulous Restaurant in the Dordogne

by Beausoleil

Update: We returned to the Dordogne this year and our first meal was at Le Perigord Restaurant. I'm happy to say it is just as good as we remembered. We took our daughter and she loved it too. The owners actually remembered us from 18 months ago although this may have more to attending their church than eating at their restaurant. It was fun though and we felt like we belonged. Highly recommended. Le PerigordJust got back from the Dordogne in France and haven't started my Travel Pages yet but had to put this restaurant Tip someplace. We had a little trouble finding it because the address is La Roque Gageac and it is not in the town but on the D46 where you turn toward Sarlat-la-Caneda. It is definitely worth a detour. We rented a house in the area and ate at Le Perigord three times and loved it every time. It is part of the Logis de France chain of small family-owned hotels and most of...

Logis de France: Always excellent restaurants . . .

by Beausoleil

The Logis de France is a chain of small family-owned hotels in nearly every city, town and village in France. They have branched into Belgium and Italy too but we haven't visited those. You can find them at: Logis de FranceWe often stay in a Logis de France when on the road because they are friendly and, best of all, they invariably have a marvelous restaurant attached. The Logis chain has a competition amongst their chefs each year and they put great effort into it. This results in terrific food so even if we've rented a house nearby, we often search out a Logis de France for our dinner. You will find specials and lunches that are quite reasonable in cost. However, evening dinners especially on weekends can cost more than the rooms in the hotel. Believe me, it is worth it. We have never had a bad meal in a Logis. We've eaten so many meals in Logis de France all over the country that I...

Les Berceaux: French classic at Epernay

by gwened

this is a small hotel B&B but the main is the restaurant sublime. it was one of my first in France! with my then girlfriend today wife ,and it is a stopping point each time in the region for the last 21 yearsRestaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. and now they have open bistrot 7 for vins à bar or champagne à bar lol!The menu changes rapidly according to the available product from the Champagne region, so better to check to link and see what is offer the day you come. The service is very French, traditional, and formal ,dress nice especially in evenings. The decoration is of the region too ,with lots of grape motifs, and painting of the vinyards. There is always a menu offered and recently it has been at 38€ . The bistrot 7 is open 7/7 and the menu is cheaper at 29€ less formal but same excellent cuisine. I love this dish Poêlée de Rognons de Veau au Persil , its is veal livers in a...

Turkish Restaurants.: You need to get filled yet saving some Euros.

by Stentorian

France is a very Expensive city an it is HUGE is size. So the first thing you need to keep in your mind is FOOD. You need some good healthy food that will give you enough energy to walk through Paris yet not cut a hole in your pocket. I'd recommend the Turkish restaurants. You may ask why? The reason is, you will get them almost everywhere in Paris, they serve quick, pretty decent amount of food to fill up your stomach which is very important. And last but not least, you pay 1/3 of the price in any traditional french cuisine. So my advise is to visit them for your everyday food. But you gotta try traditional french cuisine also, ones in a while.

Les Marissons: Quincentational French by the canals

by gwened

wonderful ambiance by the canals near an old boatyard from the 15C, and great ambiance with jazz live music. Very typical sourrounding and great French cuisine. The place, and the food warrants a visit each time in the city.I go by car so there is some parking spaces by the restaurant easy except in summer , then you can park the parking St Leu, until 21h30 and free with your ticket that can come out 24/24. The best plates are those from season whatever is on the house fresh, in the past i had two times delicious meals with Pâté de canard d'Amiens en croûte au foie gras ( cold press meat of duck of Amiens region with liver) , and the St Jacques en saison de pêche( scallops in season)as best that can translate them ::)
