Le Perigord, near La Roque Gageac and Sarlat: Fabulous Restaurant in the Dordogne

by Beausoleil

Update: We returned to the Dordogne this year and our first meal was at Le Perigord Restaurant. I'm happy to say it is just as good as we remembered. We took our daughter and she loved it too. The owners actually remembered us from 18 months ago although this may have more to attending their church than eating at their restaurant. It was fun though and we felt like we belonged. Highly recommended.Just got back from the Dordogne in France and haven't started my Travel Pages yet but had to put this restaurant Tip someplace. We had a little trouble finding it because the address is La Roque Gageac and it is not in the town but on the D46 where you turn toward Sarlat-la-Caneda. It is definitely worth a detour. We rented a house in the area and ate at Le Perigord three times and loved it every time. It is part of the Logis de France chain of small family-owned hotels and most of them have a...

Le Cheval Blanc - The White Horse: Enjoy lunch in Eze

by 807Wheaton

We had lunch at Le Cheval Blanc before we visited Eze. I had their salmon in dill sauce, green beans, french fries and of course, the wonderful French white bread. For dessert we chose Carmel Creme with coffee. The atmosphere was really wonderful, looking right on the streets of the ancient village of Eze. The salmon in Dill Sauce was truly wonderful.

Michel Bras: Three stars... But don't miss this one!

by F_Meignant

The hotel/restaurant is a very modern building with an original architecture. It's built on the side of the Causse (Désert d'Aubrac).Among all the French "3 stars", it's the one I prefer. And another advantage: the restaurant is the less expensive of the "3 stars", especially if you come for lunch during the week. Michel Bras is an original cook: he goes on the Causse and collect herbs that he uses in his dishes...Very sophisticated...!They have Armagnac with fabulous dates (begining of XXth century!).

With Riesling, of course.

Chez Bru: Michelin two-stars Restaurant in South of France!

by Mstudwell

Chez Bru which was awarded "Michelin two-stars" restaurant (Out of three stars total) is located in a small medieval village of Les Baux (South of Avignon). Myself and a group of 12 (all big food and wine buffs) visited this restaurant on only it's second day at this location. It used to be located a a different location more in the center of town, and just recently moved more on the outskirts of the village. Keeping in mind that the doors as this location had only been open for two days, the service was good but I could tell that the staff was still getting used to the new set up. The property, ambiance, and food presentation itself was gorgeous and would be the main reason for a second visit. I was most impressed with the desserts and the creativity and time that is put into each dish made even my generic choice of Creme Brulee anything but ordinary. My entree and wine were also great-...

Marco Polo: Leave France and hop over to Italy for Lunch!

by Mstudwell

My parents and I were staying in Avignon France and decided to take a drive to Italy for the day. It was about a four hour drive so we decided to just grab a quick lunch right across the boarder in Ventimiglia. This restaurant was perfect, it is located on the beach and was a nice change to the french food that we have been eating all week. All three of us got a different pasta dish and they were all good size-hearty sizes! I ordered the handmade pasta of the day with a locally made pesto sauce- to die for! This was my first impression of Italy- so sitting right on the Mediterranean eating a delicious pasta dish was for sure what I hoped Italy to be like! They have great sea food, but I would recommend anything with the homemade pesto sauce- as it is a popular choice of the area and is very good!

Au Bistrol de la Montagne: Spend an evening on the Left Bank

by 807Wheaton

We spent an evening on the Left Bank Au Bistrol de la Montagne. There are trendy restaurants on the Boulevard Germain on the Left Bank. We walked through some of the streets in the Latin Quarter before arriving at this restaurant which caters to groups. We were served onion soup as the appetizer. This was followed by an excellent entre of beef with potato and broccoli for the vegetables. Dersserts were probably the most memorable: we had a pear that was topped with icecream and chocolate sauce, and the other dessert was an apple tart, followed by coffee. All very good indeed. Personally, I love to have my coffee with my dessert, especially if it is a pastry. However, that is not the way it is served in France, and that was why I was there: to experience things differently!

A Swedish restaurant in Nice

by hopang

This superb Swedish restaurant is located along the beach at the famous Promenade des Anglais in the heart of Nice. It serves excellent Swedish cuisines such as the popular Swedish meat balls and Swedish salmon dish. Take the opportunity to savour some good Swedish food while you are in Nice for your holidays. Swedish meat balls served with cooked potatoes.

Can't remember the name of the restaurant: A popular seafood restaurant in Cannes

by hopang

This is a very popular local seafood restaurant located at Boulevard de la Croisette along the waterfront. If you walk along the promenade from Palais des Festivals et des Congrés de Cannes to La Sequet Old Town, you will not miss the restaurant. It is very popular and often very crowded with local and foreign tourists. Among its very popular specialities is fresh oysters and they are quite reasonably priced too. If we are not mistaken it cost just 10 euros for ten pieces of fresh oysters. But we prefer fried mixed seafood as depicted in our photograph above. Fried local seafood French style.
