Crepe, a thin pancake: Crepe

by ATLC

A crepe is an ultra thin pancake that can be bought anywhere in France. At street vendors, lunchrooms, or special cr?pe restaurants. Most commonly eaten with a bit of butter and sugar, or with jam or Nutella. A lovely little snack which I can only associate with holidays in France.Note: It's actually 'crepe' with an accent grave on the first 'e' but VTML doesn't catch that diacritical code.

Chez Lucie: Superb Creole Cuisine in Paris

by spacedust

Located in a small road (rue d'Augereau) off Avenue Bosquet (very close to the Eiffel Tower), this hole in the wall restaurant serves out of this word food. The gentleman to runs the place told us that it was Creole Cusine. We loved every bit of it. Its a small place with tightly packed tables and chairs (the types where you need to move a table to get into the chair behind...) The food was wonderful. We had Colombo Chicken, Stuffed Crab....

Waffles with Nuttela & Cream

by spacedust

Hi,All over France (especially around major attractions - like the Eiffel Tower or the Ferris Wheel at Place Concorde etc) you will se small kiosks/vans selling waffles with various syrups n sauces. Freshly made waffles with maple/strawberry/apricot crush cost about 3.50Euros, with Nuttela about 3.00Euros to 4.00Euros and Nuttela with a topping of freshly whipped cream would cost about 4.50Euros. The stuff is absolutely wonderful. Check whether the waffles are fresh or not. Another variant of this is something called Churros. I guess its made out of the syrup and is fried rather than baked. Its yummy too. CheersSpacedust

L' Annexe: Great Menues

by opb.photos

L' Annexe is close to the Viex Port and situated in a small square where not traffic goes through. So you can sit outside and enjoy your meal without having to deal with the noise of cars and scooters. Service is great. Besides the typical French cuisine on the menue, I recommend one of the menues, starting 15€ and 18€. Open 7 days a week from midday till night. Try the fish soup!! They serve cheese with it, which should be spread over the hot soup. The pepper sauce steak will make you smile and all fish dishes are worth talking about in a good way.

Food

by DanielF

The contribution of the French cuisine to the world gastronomy is imponderable. France excells in the quality of its cheeses, wines, liqueurs and pastries, having reached a well deserved reputation throughout the world. French cuisine is as diverse as the country itself is and, additionally, the raffination with which most dishes are prepared and the devotion consacrated to anything culinary make of France a perfect destination for any bon-vivant. However, many will find not so likeable the fact that many restaurants are really strict about the serving times, being sometimes difficult to find a restaurant open after 9.30 pm, particularly in provincial France. Others also dislike the abuse of butter or cream-based sauces which often disguise the taste of the main ingredients instead of enhancing it.

Restaurant Odyssée: Italian food in Nice

by jorgejuansanchez

Nice familiar restaurant with Italian speaking owners (Nice belongs to France only since 1860, being before part of Italy, and many people still today speak a local dialect with a mixture of French and Italian. The statue of Garibaldi, who was born in Nice, is looking to Italy because he became angry with the city when its citizens voted to be incorporated in France).Main dishes are lasagne and pizzas that are made before of you by the father, a simpatico Italiano with long moustaches. The wife and beautiful daughters are the waitresses. It is located at about 100 metres from the railway station, and around there are hundreds of hotels at good prices. as above

La Verte Ostrea, Marennes: rude staff

by brianmulhern

We were greeted rudely by a young waitress who waved us in the general direction of a few tables. We( a couple) sat at a table for 4-no table for two was available. Another waitress came later and screamed at us for sitting aat a table for 4. It was humiliating-so we left.Next door, is a beautiful restaurant"L'escale' which I would recommend highly.Alos La Cayenne down the road is a good fish/sea food place.Avoid la Verte Ostrea!

Café de la Place, Saint Paul de Vence: cheap and good

by jorgejuansanchez

This restaurant is OK, just in front of the La Colombre d’Or, where the old people play petanque. The dishes are cheap (Plat du jour for about 12 euros) and the terrace is open to everybody. plat du jour
