147 ans d'une tradition lumineuse...
C'est en 1860 qu'a lieu la première fête nocturne sur le lac d'Annecy. Elle est donnée en l'honneur de Napoléon III et de l'Impératrice Eugénie, venus célébrer la rattachement de la Savoie à la France. Depuis, la tradition s'est perpétuée. Et dès les années 1950, ce rendez-vous avec les feux de la nuit est devenu l'un des événements touristiques majeurs d'une ville renommée autant pour le charme de ses rues que pour la beauté de son lac.
... qui culmine aujourd'hui autour d'un des feux d'artifice les plus grandioses d'Europe.
Cette année comme chaque année, le défi sera relevé : faire naître le feu de l'eau.
Alors que le soleil se couche sur ce premier samedi du mois d'août, la magie et l'émerveillement se lèvent sur le lac.
Un doux environnement sonore aide le public à accueillir la nuit. Un abécédaire du feu lui dévoile quelques secrets des maîtres du feu, avant qu'une flotille embrasée traverse la baie d'Albigny : le thème du feu d'artifice 2007 peut alors se dévoiler.
Le 7 est lâché, pour près d'une heure et demie de féerie pyrotechnique, dédiée au nombre magique sous toutes ses formes, scandée de poésie en liberté. Des 7 mers aux 7 merveilles du monde, "Le 7 tout feu tout slam" éclabousse le ciel et chavire les coeurs. Car si le feu d'artifice est impressionnant, il apparaît encore magnifié par l'immense miroir du lac et résonne sans fin dans son écrin de montagnes. 147 ans après les fastes des origines, la Fête du Lac ravit à nouveau les Annéciens et leurs invités du monde entier.
La beauté et la force, le feu et les mots, le temps et l'espace, tout se fond en un spectacle total qui vous va droit à l'âme.

one of the speciality of the region is cheese so if you like it try:
"la raclette" which is a melted cheese on new potatoes acompanied of saucisson, ham and salad.
"la fondue savoyarde" which 4 or 5 different kind of Comte cheese and white wine ( it eaten using some small fairly dry bread peaces that you put on a fork and use it to get some melting cheese around)
try le "roblochon" cheese or la"tome de savoie"
and there is also le tartiflette .............so much for the cheese lover.....................

la "grolle" is an hot alcohol drink made of whisky with freshly squizzed oranges and lemons and is drunk from that funny looking pot which has a few holes. it s really warming after a day skiing, try it but careful it can be really strong .....eventhough my friend seems to enjoy it on this picture!!!!!!!!

The French are very friendly here and are happy to help you out. But most of the times you don't have to ask for the way, because signs are everywhere.
Keep in mind that shops can be closed between 11 am and 3 pm.

There are several great creperies in Annecy, and you must have to taste the crepes with calvados. This is a pancake dessert which is set on fire just before serving.
