Bordered by irregular arcades, this street, whose existence dates back to the very origins of the town whose main route it made up, still surprises us today, by its width as well as by the spacious dimensions of the paths underneath the arches.
the market in the old town and the canal "thiou"

Monastère et Basilique de la Visitation
The order of visitation was founded in Annecy by François de Sales and Jeanne de Chantal in 1610.
The present monastery was built near the forêt du Crêt du Maure from 1909 to 1930 but Cardinal Tedeschini officially consacrated it only in 1949.Related to:
Annecy at Night
The evenings in Annecy in the month of August are very festive. Lights are strung along the canals, people are out strolling, having dinner along the canal and walking along the lake. Street muscians and performers make for great entertainment - some of the best I've every seen. We saw a one man show that kept a crowd of 50 people mesmirized for an hour. He rode a unicycle, did magic tricks and included the onlookers in his act.
Get yourself a big ice cream and take a stroll along the canals or Quai Napoleon and see Lac d'Annecy in the moonlight.
Jardin de L'Europe
There is a beautiful park that runs along the lake. You can find a bench that give you a great vista of the lake and the mountains. Lots of trees and a fountain make for a cool respite in August (They also have a public restroom).
The Thiou canal is Lake of Annecy's natural spillway and has become one of the most attractive elements in the town. It’s actually a source of hydraulic energy, and a means of transport and an their water supply. The quays that run along this stream and are favored by artists who love to paint the"Savoyard Venise". The canal and bridges do give it an air of Venice.
The Old City
Annecy has an old town section with narrow streets and medieval buildings. You won't see many cars in the area so it's a very walkable area. There you will feel as if we were in a small, old French village. We found very few people here who spoke English, whether or not they understood, they didn’t speak it so be prepared.Related to:

you ll find plenty of artisanal shops, restaurants, local food shops, and is a very lively place to be, especially in the summer time.
Walk through the old section of town
Walking through the old part of town is fascinating in itself. You can also stop into the shops here - lots of small and unusual shops (closed 12-2:30pm) as well as some more expensive high-end stores are located here, as well as many restaurants and cafes.Related to:

The Thiou quays
The Thiou canal, the Lake of Annecy's natural spillway, has always been one of the most attractive elements of the town. It has procured a constant source of hydraulic energy.
Along the canals, there are so many bars, cafe's and restaurants you can choose from and I'm sure they all are wonderful and charming in their own little way.
