It s one of France leading gourmet village and has a nationnal award for flowerbeds and floral decoration.
that is where the best rated restaurant in france is based so if you are in the area, spoil yourself and have a meal in the Georges Blanc restaurant, it s expensive but something for your tastebuds to remember.

the monastery of Brou was commissioned by Margaret of Austria and built between 1506 and 1532 and is of Gothic architecture. Margaret of Austria who was widowed at the age of 24,fulfilled a vow taken by her mother in law, rebuilding the priory in Brou in her honor and as a sign of the love she felt for her deceased husband, Philibert the Fair, Duke of Savoie. The building is outstanding for the superb crafmanship of the stonecutters and carvers, scultors in marble and alabaster, woodcarvers and carpenters

  • "bressane" house
    by sylvie-uk
those farms were built in isolated spots close rich fertile land.
they were built of cob, daub and brick.
the amazing thing is that because these houses were built of relatively light materials, they could be moved to a new location if they were sold or sequestred.
Nowdays in the area , people try to renovate a lot these houses to live in it.

    Chambod lake
    by sylvie-uk
it s actually a river but because of the dam it s become more like a lake.
Nice place to have a swim in the summer time, there is a little island that has got a little beach with some games for the kids, you can also rent canoe/kayaks and small sailing boats.
the fee to enter the island is about 2.5 euros for the day but if you go before 9am, no need to pay.
But there are so many other places you can go around the river and you may get the chance to swim with some wild swans.

    alambi
    by sylvie-uk
this was used (and still is illegally) to produce a very strong white clear alcohol drink called either "Alambi" or "Eau de vie".
This one as been used as decoration entrance of a house and can be seen in the village of Cerdon.
It s either drunk by pourring a bit on a sugar piece or is drunk as what french call a "trou normand" which is a pause in a middle of a meal.
Be careful if you are offered some as some of them can have up to 70% alcohol.
