On friday morning there is a small market with local produce like cheese and confiture. The Savoie has several well known cow milk cheese. We also had them on our toast and in the fondue.
My ski teacher told me that during summer the cows walk and eat on the alps where we ski in the winter.

This a ski holiday place, so you either ski or board. Or you must be the grandparents taking care of the small kids.
It has skiing possobilities for every kind of skiing level. Loads of blue and red pistes and some black.
For the beginners there is the ecole de ski. I had an excellent teacher who learned me the first things in skiing.

From NL its easy to reach the French Alps by car. Its a bit of a drive about 12 hours but not hard to do.
You will need snow chains of course for your tires. We didnt need them this time on the way up and only a short way on the way back.

Essential on a trip to France is the shop where you can buy your "baquettes" and " croissant".
This was place, just down from the ski rental shop. It was open from 7,30 till 8 pm if i remember well.
What to buy: Baquettes. But they had lots of other things to eat as well.
What to pay: Not much

The building on the right of the picture rents out ski´s and shoes and stuff. Thats good enough for the average skier i think. Only i can imagine that a pair of your own ski shoes would be a neat thing.
What to buy: These kinds of shops specialise in winter stuff so this is the place to buy gloves, hats and shawls.
What to pay: Too much, its expensive but the rental skis was a good deal. Got a discount because i stayed in the Goelia appartments.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: All kinds of wind and water proof stuff that you need for skiing or being in the snow. Shoes for in the snow after skiing.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sunscrean for snow! And do not forget the sunblock on your lips
Photo Equipment: Camera´s do not like the cold but if you keep them on the inside of your jack they will be fine.

In the wintertime the one thing to do here is skiing or boarding (or cross country skiing).
Lots of slopes and more important tons of snow. Its on a high altitude so i think its snow sure. It stays till around May according to my ski teacher.
Imagine that snow till may!!!
Equipment: The one thing that i do not like is the high prices of the ski pass. They have several types so you can choose one whatever fits your area you want to ski in.
