Favorite thing: Go to the city center, for shopping it's quite pleasant, but not big. 'Grand Place' which is a commercial center in the suburbs, does not worth to get lose to find it I think, well I have to soften this as this commercial center has just been renewed. I have not seen it but I guess it's pretty attractive now. I finally advice you to get out from Grenoble to take more time to visit its country side: the Alps!

Fondest memory: My fondest memory of the trip was trying to ski. Having never been skiing before and not having any lessons we were completely hopeless. I was laughing so much I thought I would stop breathing!! It was really funny. We didn't have a clue! Luckily we broke no bones.

Favorite thing: Le Vercors, site of the french resistance and of course hit pretty hard by the germans during the last war. The French would hide in the Maquis (impenetrable woods) and get out of there to raid the germans. Of course, it all ended when the Germans parachuted loads of troups the annehialte the resistance.
Fondest memory: It mostly is a plateau of triangular shape, with the Rhone on the West side. Very easy to overlook.

Favorite thing: You must hike to the top of the Citadel to get the view and layout of the city. You can also go the lazy route and take the tram to the top, but I lived there for a year and hiked it every time.
Fondest memory: My fondest memory is walking between the Centre and the Italian quarter across the river for a warm pizza on a cold winter's night.

Favorite thing: Get high!!!!!! I mean...take some altitude and climb up those mountains around you (there's loads of them so it's your choice!) and look around...you'll see impressive and beautiful mountains and valleys...and let me tell you, you won't want to get down!!
This picture shows the valley heading South, with the Isere river running in the middle.
Fondest memory: What i miss the most about Grenoble is the sight of the snowy mountains on bright and clear icy cold mornings. Such a breath-taking and peaceful feeling of tranquility...Yeah, i really miss that.

Fondest memory: As you can see on this satellite picture, Grenoble is surrounded by mountains, and that's why it gets so cold in the winter and so hot in the summer. The city is at the cross-roads of 3 valleys. The one going towards the West takes you to Lyon and it's region. The one on the East side leads to Chambery and the whole Savoie. The one in the South leads to Valence and the southern Alps.

Favorite thing: You must find them out! Don't get me wrong, I'm not a kind of sexual psychopathic: the point is that in Grenoble there's this huge community of double-barrelled guns, always organizing kinky parties and they gave me one of most amazing experience I've had in my short life. check it.
Fondest memory: Them and their queen, la dauphinoise.....
