La Bruscheta: La Bruscheta, 20 quai de France

by JLBG Updated Apr 22, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Quai de France runs along the Isère river and begins Porte de France (see my Porte de France tip). Quai de France, Porte de France, what kind of restaurant should we expect ?

20 quai de France, La Bruscheta is obviously an Italian restaurant and a very good one indeed. Try the pastas !

La Traviata: La Traviata, 78 quai Perrière

by JLBG Updated Apr 20, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Along the Isère, this is still the same quay but the name is not the same anymore. Instead of Quai de France, it is now called Quai Perrière and we can see another restaurant at number 78. It is called "La Traviata". Humm ! It does not look like a theater, then, that must another Italian Restaurant !

Il Vaporetto, Pizzeria Créperie: Il Vaporetto, Pizzeria Créperie, 58 quai Perrière

by JLBG Written Apr 20, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Now, we are running far ahead, 4 numbers away, to get to 58 quai Perrière. We have better to have good walking shoes for such a long hike.
Pizzeria Créperie, this is a long distance connection, Italy and French Brittany. I will have to check if they have pizza with « andouillette de Vire » or pizza spread with « rillettes » and Crêpe Calzone or Crêpe quatro stagione !

by JLBG Written Apr 20, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Again four numbers and we are 66 quai Perri?re for another "Lane crossing" between Italy and France : we would expect to have "la Fiorentina" while it is translated into French to make " La Florentine. Inside, no surprise, this is actual good Italian cooking !

Again two restaurants at the same address number, 54 quai Perri?re and moreover, this one has got three names : Au Pizzaiolo le Stromboli/Au Soleil d'Italie. I have not felt necessary to outline that it was a pizzeria, I guess you had guessed !

by JLBG Written Apr 20, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

What a surprise, no three surprises ! The first : another restaurant next door, at the same number, 74 quai Perrière. The second, isn't it finally a French restaurant ? The third is that it does not exist ! It is on the Telephone data base but at the address given, there is nothing but a closed shop !

Pizzeria des Vieux Quartiers: Pizzeria des Vieux Quartiers, 36 quai Perrière

by JLBG Written Apr 20, 2005

    P36
At number 48 quai Perrière, there was a pizzeria des Quais, at number 36 another “local” reference has named a Pizzeria des Vieux Quartiers (Pizzeria of the old city). There is no need to look far away to get a name !

Pizzeria de l'Isère: Pizzeria de l'Isère, 32 quai Perrière

by JLBG Written Apr 20, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pizzeria de l'Isère is obviously deeply rooted locally. Pizzeria des Quais and Pizzeria des Vieux Quartiers were inland restaurants. This one has choose to be named by the river flowing in front. I hope they do not serve pizza garnished with fishes caught in the Isère (pollution !)

Rabit or Ladyburg? A friend during the meal
    4 more images

last update (July 2008): going back with my wife. She shares the view

I had the opportunity to discover this restaurant in may 2008 and it's excellent:
    - the food is tasty, a little spicy, with a clear personnal touch from the boss/cooker
    - the boss is friendly, engaging, share his passions and could some time interrupt the meal for spending some time with you (personnaly, I appreciate)
    - restaurant room is good, with an original fire-place, decorated with stones
    - the boss is spekaing Englisg, German, Italian, Spanish and a little arab.

But: the menus could be modified, depending on his mood. Anyway, you could trust his suggestions

Don't expect to eat too much here, you'll be happy but nod fed-up
    Coccinelle = Ladyburg
    Pre-booking is recommended

Il Vesuvio: Il Vesuvio, 91 rue Saint Laurent

by JLBG Updated Apr 20, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Italy resists actually with two full size volcanoes in perfect condition of eruption. Always hot. Excellent for cooking pizzas. Tandooris and Curries are surrounded and outnumbered by Pizzas and Pastas. If they surrender pizzas will have mercy on them, for sure !

Wide choice !: Among 200 others places

by JLBG Updated May 18, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You had guessed that this was a joke. All these Italian restaurants and Pizzerias DO exist. They are actually lined, one after the other on less than 300 meters on Quai de France, Quai Perrière and Rue Saint Laurent and this concentration is what makes it so special and amazing but Grenoble has many other restaurants. In Grenoble city alone, not taking into account the other cities of the Métro, the telephone book gives 165 restaurants, 3 café-restaurants, 8 hôtel-restaurants, 18 brasseries and even 3 Mc Donald's.

Every different kind of pizzas in a row ! At 32 quai Perrière, Quatro Staggione pizza, at number 26, King pizza. May I suggest that it is not very convenient to visit all pizzerias, one after the other to get a sample of every type of pizza !

"Royal Tandoori", what is that, an alien ! It should be "Royal Pizza" ! Oops, there is already a Restaurant Pizzeria La Royale. After all, may be they could not find any other name and that it is a pizzeria hidden under that exotic name !

Rue Saint Laurent is no more on the bank of the Isère which bends but it is the straight way from Quai Perrière, then I will consider it is the continuation ! The Etna volcano is not extinct. Italy resists !

I guess this one must have been one of the first to open as they have chose the most obvious name for a pizzeria in the Saint Laurent district ! New pizzeria must have a lot of imagination to find a name that has not be chosen yet !
