About 20 km from Grenoble, there is one of the most famous paragliding spot, in Saint Hilaire Du Touvet. Easy to practice in "biplace" for a good price. But if you have more money and time it is worthy to do the "initiation trainning" , and the third day you will fly ALONE!! A bit scary when you see the 700 meters cliff where you should take off from. But people there are pros and this is safe.
Good shoes... Good mental!! The school provide the equipment. Leave a Comment Theme: Extreme SportsAddress: Airbulle, terrain d'atterissage,LUMBINPhone: (0033)(0)4.76.08.26.26Directions: right next to the landing areaWebsite: http://www.parapente.fr

Grenoble is a good "entry point" for skiing (main of the resorts in the Alps are easy to reach from Grenoble), climbing, hang-gliding .... 30 minutes to 1 hour (by car or bus) requested.

Grenoble is a city anchored in the tradition highlander. Several Via Ferratas were created, to learn the mountain, or to train. One among her is at the heart of the city since it permits, since the side of the Drac, to go up until the Bastille. Ok I agree it is not natural to be flying like that, very strong sensations (for me at least). It was Icare's dream. Leave a Comment Theme: Extreme Sports

Extensive path system, path are well marked so with a map and common sense it's almost impossible to get lost! There are also nice small villages worth the visit. Here is a site that has a lot of information: http://www.braemoor.co.uk/chartreuse/index.htm
Sturdy hiking shoes, hat and sunglasses in Summer, snowshoes in winter. Hiking poles can be useful. Leave a Comment

Grenoble is an awesome starting point for ski and snowboard. Of the big stations, Alpe d'Huez and Deux Alpes are easily accessible. For Alpe d'Huez, my favourite spot, consider going to Vaujany, Oz, or Villard Reculas for your lift pass, you'll save yourself 20 mins of driving! The three valleys is accessible via Orelle on the motorway, from where you take the 3 valleys express over to Val Thorens. To get to Courchevel valley in roughly the same amount of time, go to Le Praz and take the long "Foret" lift up. There are also many nice, smaller stations in the Grenoble area that international tourists might not have heard of. Locals use Villard de Lans and Prapoutel, which are big enough for a good day out and very close by. Chamrousse is good for skiing, but not my favourite spot for snowboarding because there are many annoying flat areas to cross if you want to get from one side to the other. We are putting together a web page with all the ski stations in the area, you'll find it at www.ski-grenoble.net. If you have any feedback about the page, drop us a line! There are cheap buses that leave from the Grenoble bus terminal (next to the train station) everyday during winter taking you to the many close ski resorts around grenoble e.g Les 2 Aples, Alpes d'Huez, Chamrousse, Les 7 laux. Leave a Comment Theme: Skiing/Snowboarding
