by gwened Written Feb 12, 2015

Again another vast subject that I love been a certifie wines of France expert and wine collector/drinker or drinker /collector ::) You got wine here to boot with 16 crus des Côtes
du Rhône, 2 wines Doux Naturels(sweets), 18 Côtes du Rhône Villages with their names, and 95 production towns for the Côtes du Rhône Villages as well as the lower table wines of areas of the denomination Côtes du Rhône produce in 171 towns in 6 départements of France.

You start with the Condrieu, saint-Joseph,Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage,Cornas, St Peray, Vinsobres, Rasteau, Gigondas and Vacqueyras (my favorites), Beaumes de Venice, Châteauneuf du pape, Carpentras,Lirac Tavel,Ventoux, Luberon, and the Côstiéres de Nîmes.

The grapes for the red allow here are the Cinsault,Muscadin,Counoise,Muscat noir, grenache gris, picpoul noir, terret noir, clairette rose,Marselan, calitor, vaccarése,carignan noir, but the 3 main ones are Grenache noir, mourvérdre, and Syrah.

The grapes for the whites allow here are the Bourboulenc, roussanne, muscat blanc, picardan, picpoul blanc, ugni blanc, maccabeo blanc, clairette blanc, vermentino or rolle blanc, grenache blanc, but the main ones are Viognier, and Marsanne blanc.

Too numerous but some of my favorites here are
    domaine alain Voge
    jean Luc Colombo
    Château de Campuget
    Domaine Philippe and Vincent Jaboulet
Michel Chapoutier (my favorite any wine is good)
    Paul Jaboulet Ainé
    Vidal Fleury
    Chartreuse de Valbonne
    cave vignerons de Tavel

around Avignon, château de la Gardine
    Château Fortia
    Château Mont-Redon
    Domaine Beaurenard
    Ogier (my favorite)
    Domaine corps de loup
    domaine des bosquet
    Domaine des Bernardins
Domaine le sang des Cailloux (my favorite)

This is not a all list, but some of the favorites i had or remember ::) just for example I am having now a Vacqueyras Domaine la Font des Arbouisiers 2013 red, 13 euros bottle of grapes Syrah, Mourvédre, and Cinsault. Its area of cultivation covers two towns Vacqueyras and Sarrians in the dept of the Vaucluse at the foot of the mountains of the Dentelles de Montmirail. One of the first wine of the area to be recognise Côtes du Rhône Villages in 1955, and later AOC Vacqueyras in 1990. From my Vannes NIcolas store ::)

Enjoy it , its wines of France from the Rhone valley.

    No long trunks allowed!

by gOdOtPm Updated Dec 26, 2006

In the Rhône-Alpes region (and I was told all over France), if you want to have a bath in a swimming pool, you have to wear those lycra tiny bathing suit. Trunks are not allowed and paradoxically, trunks are the regular bathing suits in Spain!

We got the fountain. Now, WHAT?

by gOdOtPm Updated Nov 22, 2006

I found these tricky fountains all over the region and who knows if they're somewhere else...

To get the water out of the fountain, sometimes, you have to twist the golden piece on top (like in this occasion). Other, you have to move some other handles in circles... Hard to guess for a thirsty Spaniard like me!

Just roll the piece on top to get the water out!

    Rhone Lavender

    by freya_heaven Updated May 1, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I have yet to be in France at the the right time to see the beautiful lavender fields just before the the harvest. There are acres of lavender farms in the Rhone valley flowing down in to Provence. There is a Lavender trail you can follow, about 6 circuits you can take on both regions. The website below is very informative.
