The Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval in Hauterives in the department of Drôme in central France is my kind of palace. It was built by and for a hard working man as opposed to royalty. This palace was built by a mail carrier who, during years of mail delivery, collected stones of all shapes and sizes during his daily route by wheelbarrow of 40 miles (66 km.) through Drôme. With enough stones and shells, he bound them together with cement and built the palace you see in 1912.
Le Palais du Facteur Cheval
A funny halt SouthEast of Lyon. A lunatic built a castle from sand, little rocks and concrete (yes concrete). It makes for a huge sand castle. Great sight, site.
