Please try at least once 'Aux Trois Maries', little bit expensive, but delightful... (40-50 € per person aprox.)
Medium budget will encounter wonderful menus in any restaurant in 'Place Saint Jean' besides nice atmosphere in summer.
Desserts are wonderful in Lyon, don´t forget to taste such sweet 'fromage blanc avec la creme'. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

You'll notice that the guide will tell you to go to Rue Mercière for fine dining, which is true. However, there are many other good ones around town. Another one I really enjoyed is LES ADRETS.
The service was great, the food superb, the ambiance cozy.
Everything I tried was wonderful to the palate. They have three fixed menus. I chose the middle price range (appr. US$40) but all dishes are creatively prepared. The magnificent 4 course meal include entrée, aperitif, main course, cheese & bread and dessert . Remember, Lyon is a gastronomic city, so indulge! You can get really, really good food for a reasonable price. I certainly didn't try every restaurant nor can I recommend all those I have but these are the ones where I have had wonderful eating experience. You'll also notice most restaurants in Lyon are quite small- called 'bouchon' The picture below is not the restaurant I am recommending below but it gives you an idea of what one might look like.
Try CHEZ MOUNIER. Excellent restaurant! They serve traditional Lyonnais cuisine. Their ambiance is not five-star but the food compensates for it. This restaurant is very popular among the locals. We went there on a weeknight and was still turned away because it was packed!
Try their andouilettes (sausages of cow's intestines) and queunelles. Theme: OtherDirections: 3, des Maronniers, walking distance from Place Bellecour.Other Contact: Open Tues-Sun noon-2pm and 7-10:

Local specialties include :
-Andouillette (sausage made from pigs intestine or veal sweetbreads).
-Jesus (sausage)
-Saucisson de Lyon (boiled sausage served with potatoes)
-Gratons (fried pork fat)
-Tablier de sapeur (tripes)
-Gratin de cardon (local variety of white beets)
-Cervelle de canut (cheese served as a salad)
-St Marcellin and St Felicien (cheeses)

My favorite restaurant has to be 'le chant de laure' you'll have to ask me where it is, it's easy to get there but its a small place where you can eat crepes...a typically french meal.But if you want luxuriuos french food (yes food is luxurious in france) you have the very famous 'bocuse' restaurant its known all over france.There's also 'leon de lyon' where the presidents went during the G7 meeting

I don't want to incur too much rage, but Lyonaise food...eh? I understand that it may be the seat of French culinary history, but it should be left to history! Now I'm talking about "traditional" food. There is plenty of great food, in fact in Lyon you probably have a better chance of scoring a great meal by just wandering into any ol' restaurant than in any other city in the world. But give up the quest for "traditional Lyonaise Food" we tried several before we realized that the traditional stuff was a bit heavy, wierd, and dare I say Bland? Sort of comfort food from the middle ages! But wow, we had some great meals by happenstance, my reccomendation here is to avoid the reccomendations. Walk the foodie streets and when a plat du jour sounds good...sit down! Leave a Comment
