By Plane : There is a multimodal hub which lies around 25 km from Lyon. The airport is called the Lyon Saint Exupery Airport and utilises around 40 airlines flyign to nearly 80 destinations including around 40 which fly to international destinations. Buses leave every 20 minutes and will take around 30 to 45 minutes into the city. Taxis cost double the amount of buses.
By car : There is a solid road network comprising the A6, A7, A42, A43, A47, A48 motorways which run from Lyon to Geneva, the Alps, Saint-Etienne, Clermont-Ferrand, Marseille, Nice and Paris. Road Speed limits:- in urban areas: 50 km/h, on the main roads: 90 km/h and on the motorways: 130 km/h.
You can travel between Lyon and Geneva in only 1.5 hours, Turin 3 hours, Barcelona 5 hours andFrankfurt a little longer at 13 hours
By train : Lyon is only two hours by train from Paris when you take the high speed TGV network. There is a TGV station at the Lyon Saint Exupery Airport which provide transport to major French and European cities.
