Keep an eye on your things!
This advice is common sense for most of us travellers but having had my bag stolen through my own silliness i thought i would mention it!! Don't leave things unattended, not just bags but also coats, hats etc cameras and phones. As i say, it's common sense and you could get things stolen in any town in any country, just be careful.

When making a car-tour to the Col de Joux-Plane, we parked our car on the parking lot at curb on the left side of the road (coming from Morzine). We walked around the lake and had a drink in the restaurant nearby. When we came back to our car, we noticed that our car had been robbed: the door-lock had been destroyed and (because the doors didn't open) a door window had been broken. The car on the left had a broken trunk lock and the one on the right had a broken window. Three foreign cars in a row (2 Belgian, 1 Dutch).

Be aware from horseflies
When hiking in mid-summer, don't forget the horsefly repellent !!!!
There are so many of them in the high mountain pastures. They were really keen on me.... and I HATE them.
A new product is sold, similar to the mosquito repellent milk.
No snow ???
Morzine's location in the valley at 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) can turn snow to rain fairly quickly, brining in soupy fog. On days like this, it is better to take one of the numerous lifts like the Super Morzine cable cabin or the Prodains cable car up from the valley above the tree-line to Avoriaz, located 800 meters (2,624 feet) above Morzine.
Summers in France can be very hot, even in the mountain regions. You're lucky if you find a river to cool your feet.
