Favorite thing: Avec aujourd'hui prés de 3 500 habitants, très bien située au pied de la colline de Parménie, Renage a une longue histoire….
Longtemps hameau de Beaucroissant autour des quartiers actuels de la Croze et de Maubec, Renage est intimement liée à la Fure, cette rivière exploitée dès le XIVème siècle pour ses chutes d'eau successives, entraînant des martinets de forge puis de papeterie, puis les roues des usines de soierie.

Explosion industrielle à la moitié du XIXème avec deux sites aujourd'hui disparus :

Les tissages et moulinages de la Grande Fabrique (usine pensionnat qui compta jusqu'à 1 500 emplois)
La papeterie de Renage
et trois sites encore en activité :

Le Gua et son importante usine de papiers fins et spéciaux
Alivet et sa très belle entreprise tournée vers le matériel de restauration collective
Enfin le site des Forges (taillanderie et piquets de clôture).
Cette activité traditionnelle se complète par une importante Zone d'Activités très diversifiée.

Avec une politique sociale très avancée, Renage offre à sa population une multitude de services : Ecoles maternelle et primaire pour plus de 350 enfants, Centre Socio-Culturel,
Bibliothèque, Crèche/Halte-Garderie, Foyer-Logement pour personnes âgées, Gymnase, Stades et Equipements Sportifs (Rugby, Foot, Tennis, Boules…), une grande Salle Polyvalente à la disposition des multiples Associations de la Commune.

La population de Renage est en train d'évoluer : aux renageois traditionnels s'ajoutent les ménages venus de la cuvette grenobloise et s'installant dans des lotissments de maisons individuelles. Renage conserve tout de même un caractère rural.

The textures and moulinages of the Big Factory (factory boarding school that counted until 1 500 jobs)
The stationery of Renage and three sites again in activity:

The Gua and its important factory of thin and special papers
Alivet and its very beautiful enterprise turned toward the material of collective restoration
Finally the site of the Forges (taillanderie and pegs of fence).
This traditional activity completes itself by an important Zone of activities very varied.

With a very advanced social politics, Renage offers to its population a multitude of services: Nursery school and primary for more of 350 children, Socio-Cultural Center, Library, Manger/Day nursery, Home-Lodging for aged people, Gymnasium, Stages and Sporty Facilities (Rugby, Soccer, Tennis, Balls…), a big Polyvalent Room at the disposal of the multiple Associations of the Township.

The population of Renage is evolving: to the traditional renageois the households are added come of the pan grenobloise and getting settled in individual house lotissments. Renage preserves a farming character all the same.

Favorite thing: Cachée au fond d'une vallée boisée, au bord de la Fure, les vestiges d'un grande usine, témoignent d'un riche passé industriel.
Il s'agit de La Grande Fabrique, une usine de textile, qui produisait de la soie, jusqu'au XIX° siècle. N'oublions pas que nous sommes au pays des canuts !

Hidden to the bottom of a wooded valley, very close to the Fure, the vestiges of a big manufacture, testify of a rich industrial past.
It is about The Big Factory, a factory of textile, that produced silk, until the XIXth century. Let's not forget that we are at the country of the canuts!

Favorite thing: A l'intérieur de l'église, une plaque commémorative honore les enfants du pays tombés au front pendant la Première Guerre Mondiale.

Inside of the church, a commemorative plate honors the children of the country fallen to the forehead during World War I.

Favorite thing: L'église reconstruite au XIX° siècle n'offre pas un grand inrérêt si ce n'est les quelques vitraux qui en font l'ornement.

The church rebuilt in the XIXth century doesn't offer a big interest if it is not the few stained glass windows that make the ornament of it.
