Frequent train services from Lyon Part Dieu to Saint Etienne. It cost about 9-12 euro depending on types of train.
Usually you can buy a train ticket from the ticket machine but it does not work for the credit card from abroad. it is more convenient to buy it from the ticket counter.
There are 2 lines of the tram to commute around Saint Etienne, alternative way of transportation from bus. Line 5 can be commuted to the train station with the destination shown at the front of the train; it starts from Bellevue place or from Terrase.
From the train station (Gare), line 5 runs to two destinations: Bellevue and Terrase.
The ticket is available to purchase from the ticket machine at all stops. Many kinds of ticket are suitable for different types of passenger, for example, 1 hour 1.20 euro, 1 day, 1 month. For 1 month ticket you need to go to the STAS office to do with your photo, document to proof your long stay and 37 euro.
It opens on Saturday. Becareful one of the ladies at the counter she does not speak English ans she is a bit impolite. The others are helpful.
The STAS office is near Hotel de ville tram stop.
By car is the best way to come in Maurs, i think. You can use the car to go to all the places and if you come from the Netherlands you can see the snow on the mountaintops even when you go in summertime.
You can come by train, there is a place in the neighbourhood where a lot of trains come and go. I am not sure what the best way will be to come from there to Maurs. Maybe a taxi (expensive), a lift (cheaper but not when you are with 6 people) or a rented car .
The rented car, a bike, the bus, a train or by foot.
An other picture of the snow on the mountains. I love the sight of it and how about you????
