    Cathedral of Notre Dame
    by hopang
Cathedral of Notre Dame (Notre Dame de Reims or Our Lady of Reims) is located in the heart of the town in Reims. It was constructed in the late 13th Century by Saint Remi and was used to crown the Kings of France in the olden days.

The cathedral is approximately 140 metre long, 30 metre wide and 40 metre high in the middle. The towers are as tall as 81 metres. The south tower holds two bells, one of them weighs approximately 11 tons.

The Germans destroyed part of the cathedral during the First World War. Reconstruction was carried out later after the war. The Cathedral attracts approximately one and a half millions visitors each year. The Cathedral of Notre Dame, Reims was listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991.

The Promenade in the city of Nice is also known as Promenade des Anglais. It is approximately four kilometres long. Locals and foreign visitors love to sit along the Promenade.

The Promenade is beautifully and colourfully lit up at night especially during the Christmas season in December. You are also able to watch aeroplanes taking off and landing at the international airport at the end of the Promenade. The beaches along the Promenade are very crowded during summer. As the temperature during winter is mild, you may even witness locals and foreigners swimming at the beach.

It is only one of the three Disneylands located outside the USA - the other two are located in Asia, i.e. in the cities of Tokyo and Hong Kong. Paris Disneyland was officially opened to the public in 1992.
